Donald Brown rushed for a career-high 129 yards and a 43-yard score and Peyton Manning threw two touchdown pass to Austin Collie as the host Indianapolis Colts took control of the AFC South with a 34-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The Colts (8-6) will win the division title with victories in their final two games – at Oakland and against Tennessee. The Jaguars (8-6) must win their final two games – against Washington and at Houston – to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
Indianapolis is last in the NFL with 79.5 rushing yards per game, but finished with 155. The Colts also held the No. 2 rushing team to 67 yards, well below its 157.8 average
Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew had 46 yards on 15 carries. He was second in the NFL with 1,278 yards and had rushed for 100 or more yards in six straight games.
Mike Thomas scored on a 78-yard punt return in the second quarter and David Garrard threw two touchdown passes to Mike Sims-Walker in the second half for the Jaguars. Garrard finished 24 of 38 for 294 yards and an interception.
Collie left the game with 1:13 left in the first half after taking a blow to the head and neck. Collie missed five games this season - including the last three - with concussion-like symptoms.
Manning was 20 of 27 for 166 yards in the first half and finished 29 of 39 for 229 yards.
Tyjuan Hagler returned an onside kick 41 yards for a touchdown with 1:47 left, and Adam Vinatieri kicked two field goals in the second half for the Colts.
