Elijah Parquet broke a late tie with a layup, Jabari Walker added one of his own and Tristan da Silva buried a 3-pointer as Colorado finished with a flourish to beat visiting Stanford 80-76 in the teams' Pacific-12 Conference basketball opener Sunday night in Boulder, Colo.
Evan Battey led all scorers with 22 points for the Buffaloes (6-1, 1-0 Pac-12), who won their third straight.
Spencer Jones had a team-high 15 points for the Cardinal (4-3, 0-1), who fell to 0-3 on the road.
After Jones drew the Cardinal even at 66-all on a 3-pointer with 3:58 to go, Parquet began the game-winning run that lasted until Lukas Kisunas slammed home a dunk to get Stanford back within five with still 1:22 to play.
Harrison Ingram kept the Cardinal alive with a 3-pointer that closed the gap to 78-76 with 13 seconds left. But Keeshawn Barthelemy nailed two free throws one second later to secure Colorado's win.
Battey shot 8-for-11 overall and 4-for-4 on 3-pointers for the Buffaloes, who won despite being outshot 52.0 percent to 49.1 percent overall and outscored 30-21 from beyond the arc.
Da Silva chipped in with 13 points and a team-high four assists, Walker had a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double, KJ Simpson scored 12 points and Barthelemy had 10.
Jones' 15 points came mostly on 3-for-4 shooting on 3-pointers for Stanford, which went 10-for-22 from deep.
Brandon Angel backed Jones with 13 points, while Kisunas finished with 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
A see-saw first half saw Stanford use a 7-0, game-opening run to go up by as many as 11 early on, before Colorado ran off 10 straight later in the period while turning the tables and taking as many as an eight-point advantage.
There were no such runs until Colorado's game-winning burst in the second half, which featured four lead changes and four ties, the last one on Jones' 3-pointer that drew Stanford even with 3:58 to go.
