Terrence Shannon scored 18 points in 21 minutes as host Texas Tech cruised to a 96-40 rout of Omaha on Tuesday night in Lubbock, Texas.

Shannon played his second game after being held out of Texas Tech's first three games while a review of his NBA draft process was under evaluation. He scored 16 points in his season debut in an 84-62 win over Incarnate Word on Saturday in South Padre Island, Texas.

Shannon made 6 of 11 shots and added two steals on Tuesday. He checked out for a break with 14:42 remaining in the game and Texas Tech (5-0) holding a 56-26 lead.

After Shannon went to the bench, Omaha's Frankie Fidler made a free throw to complete a three-point play, then the Red Raiders ripped off 18 straight points and took a 74-27 lead on a basket by Sardaar Calhoun with 9:06 remaining. Shannon returned less than a minute later and finished off his second game by hitting two 3-pointers in a span of 27 seconds that gave Texas Tech an 80-33 lead with 5:52 left.

Davion Warren added 14 points and Adonis Arms contributed 10 as Texas Tech shot a season-high 58.7 percent from the field and led by at least 30 points for the final 14-plus minutes. The Red Raiders also hit 8 of 16 3-pointers, scored 54 points in the paint and added 27 points off 19 turnovers.

Omaha (1-4) struggled in its second game against a Big 12 opponent. After shooting 34.8 percent Wednesday in a 15-point loss at Kansas State, the Mavericks shot a dreadful 26.5 percent and missed 23 of 29 3-point tries.

Omaha did not have any players score in double figures as Fidler, Dylan Brougham and Devin Evans scored seven points apiece. The Mavericks' leading scorer on the season, Kyle Luedtke, was held to three points and second-leading scorer Nick Ferrarini finished with six points on 2-of-10 shooting.

After Omaha scored the game's first two points, it climbed within 15-9 on a 3-pointer by Ferrarini with 11:38 remaining. The Red Raiders began pulling away, however, as Shannon's dunk capped a 17-5 spurt that made it 32-14 with 4:36 remaining. Texas Tech built a 43-20 lead by halftime.
