Dylan Disu posted a double-double as Vanderbilt ran away from Mississippi Valley State, 84-41, at Nashville's Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Disu had 17 points and 13 rebounds, securing that double-double with his 10th rebound with 17:15 to play.

Scotty Pippen Jr. scored 11 and dished out six assists, while Quentin Millora-Brown added 12 and Isaac McBride had 10 for Vanderbilt (2-0). Tyrin Lawrence, making his collegiate debut, scored 14.

Mississippi Valley State (0-7) shot just 20 percent in the second half. Devin Gordon led the team in scoring with 13.

The Delta Devils lost forward Kam'Ron Cunningham (nine points) with an apparent injury midway through the second half.

Disu opened the second half with a 3, giving Vanderbilt a 15-point lead, its biggest advantage of the game to that point.

The Commodores took their first 20-point lead (44-24) on another Disu 3 with 17:39 left, then, doubled up the score for the first time in the second half (48-24) with 15:55 left on Millora-Brown's dunk.

Another Millora-Btrown dunk with 14:13 remaining put the Commodores up 30 for the first time.

The Delta Devils held a 15-9 lead after Treylan Smith's first-half 3.

Vanderbilt, which led earlier, re-took the lead (17-15) on McBride's 3 with exactly nine minutes left.

Braelee Albert's 3 with 6:24 left in the half ended a 13-0 run and put the Commodores up 22-15 with 6:24 remaining.

Disu closed the half with a 3 with three seconds remaining, making it 34-22.

Mississippi Valley State shot 30 percent from the field and did not attempt a free throw in the first half.

Vanderbilt played without four scholarship players, including starting wing D.J. Harvey and starting forward/center Clevon Brown, as well as a pair of reserves in guard Jordan Wright and forward Myles Stute. An official explanation for the absences wasn't given, however, the Commodores' last four games were canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
