Tomas Woldetensae drilled a 3-point shot with 0.8 seconds remaining as visiting Virginia pulled out a 64-62 victory against North Carolina on Saturday night at the Smith Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Christian Keeling's three free throws with 10.3 seconds left had given the Tar Heels the lead.

Woldetensae's 18 points led the Cavaliers (17-7, 9-5 Atlantic Coast Conference). Mamadi Diakite added 15 points, and Kihei Clark and Casey Morsell each added 10 points.

Garrison Brooks pumped in 20 points and Cole Anthony had 17 for the Tar Heels (10-15, 3-11), who lost a home heartbreaker for the second Saturday in a row after Duke's overtime escape a week earlier. Keeling ended up with 11 points.

Virginia went up 47-41 before the Tar Heels capped a 7-0 run with 7:23 to play. Woldetensae and Morsell hit 3-pointers on Virginia's next two possessions, and the Cavaliers led until the final 70 seconds.

Trailing 57-55, North Carolina forced a shot-clock violation with 1:20 remaining. Anthony missed a 3-point attempt, but Armando Bacot drew a foul in the lane going for the rebound and he made both ends of a one-and-one with 1:10 left to tie the game.

Diakite converted a three-point play at the 48.9-second mark. Anthony responded by scoring on a drive with 26.9 seconds to play

Clark sank the front end of a one-and-one with 23.1 seconds left and missed the second for a 61-59 lead.

Anthony missed a jumper, but Bacot rebounded and delivered a pass to Keeling, who was fouled on a 3-point attempt.

Virginia led by as many as six in the first half, but the Tar Heels caught up for a 28-28 tie by the break. North Carolina shot 56.5 percent (13-for-23) from the field in the first half, but it was hurt by 10 turnovers.

North Carolina has lost five games in a row. The Tar Heels entered the game with their second four-game losing streak of the season.

Virginia has a six-game winning streak in the series, including a 56-47 decision Dec. 8 at home.

North Carolina used only two reserves and didn't have any bench scoring.

Keeling, a graduate transfer from Charleston Southern, made his sixth start (and first since Dec. 15) for the Tar Heels.
