Forward Khadeem Lattin poured in 19 points, leading Oklahoma to a 97-61 victory over Northwestern State (La.) on Sunday afternoon in the Sooners' season opener at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla.

Lattin hit 7 of 9 field-goal attempts and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. He added 11 rebounds in 24 minutes of play.

The Sooners (1-0) led by as many as 40 points in the game's waning minutes. Oklahoma also got 16 points from guard Jordan Woodard, 15 from forward Matt Freeman and 12 from guard Christian James.

Northwestern State (0-2) was led by forward Zeek Woodley's 19 points. Forward Ishmael Lane each guard Malik Metoyer each scored 10 points for the Demons.

The Sooners outshot Northwestern State 58.7 percent 32.8 percent and hit on nine of their 18 3-point attempts. Oklahoma blocked seven shots, had 41 rebounds to the Demons' 32 and enjoyed a 19-11 advantage in assists.

Oklahoma forged a 46-27 lead at halftime after never trailing in the first half and building as much as a 20-point advantage. Eleven players took the floor for the Sooners in the first half and 10 of them scored, led by Lattin's 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor.

Oklahoma outshot Northwestern State 53 percent to 31 percent in the first 20 minutes, a figure that would have been even worse if not for the hot shooting by Woodley, who poured in 13 points on a 5-for-8 showing in the first half. The Demons' other eight players made a combined four shots in the half.
