TEMPE, Ariz. -- California guard Tyrone Wallace scored 24 points and guard Jordan Mathews added 18 off the bench in the No. 25 Bears' 68-65 victory over Arizona State in the Pac-12 regular season finale for both at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday.

Senior Wallace scored 19 points in the second half when the Bears overcame a 10-point deficit. He had a season-low five points in a loss at Arizona on Thursday.

Cal (22-9, 12-6 Pac-12) won eight of its final nine games and clinched the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the Pac-12 tournament that begins Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Arizona State senior center Eric Jacobsen had a season-high 20 points for the Sun Devils (15-16, 5-13) in coach Bobby Hurley's first season. Jacobsen tied his career high.

Center Ivan Rabb had 11 points and guard Jaylen Brown had 10 for the Bears.

Rabb's short jumper gave Cal a 61-57 lead before Arizona State forward Obinna Oleka hit two free throws to make it 61-59 at 1:21.

Brown made one of two free throws with 1:03 left for a 62-59 edge.

Jacobsen made one of two free throws with 37.8 remaining to make it 62-60, but Cal made six three throws in the final 34 seconds to hold on.

Arizona State led by 10 points 38-28 two minutes in the second half when guard Gerry Blakes scored on a layup and Oleka made a 3-pointer from the left wing, leading to an immediate timeout by Cal coach Cuonzo Martin.

Wallace's 3-pointer from the left corner with 4:25 remaining and Brown's two free throws on the next possession capped an 18-5 run for a 57-52 lead, an Arizona State never was within two again.

Senior Blakes had 14 points and Oleka had 10.

Arizona State closed the first half on a 13-4 run to take a 33-28 lead. Forward Obinna Oleka had five points including a 3-pointer and guard Kodi Justice had one of his two first-half 3-pointers in that run, in which the Bears made only two field goals and had five turnovers.

Rabb stopped a four-minute, 23-second scoring drought on a layup to tie the game at 26-all. Mathews' leaning 12-footer as time expired was the Bears' only other field goal in the final eight minutes of the half.

Cal had nine turnovers in the first half, when Mathews had 11 points and Rabb had seven.

Cal freshman PF Ivan Rabb and freshman F/G Jaylen Brown are considered likely lottery picks if they declare for the NBA draft.
