South Dakota State guard Deondre Parks scored 21 points, leading the Jackrabbits to a 76-67 victory over TCU on Saturday at Wilkerson-Greines Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Jackrabbits led 43-32 at halftime, behind 13 points from Parks. They extended the lead to 20 five minutes into the second half, before TCU made a run.
TCU forward Vladimir Brodzianksy's layup with eight minutes to play trimmed the deficit to 56-50. The Horned Frogs closed to within three on a 3-pointer from forward WoBrandon Parrish with 3:15 to play. Parrish finished with 17 points. Guard Malique Trent led TCU with 18 points.
South Dakota answered TCU's final challenge with a 3-pointer from guard George Marshall and some clutch free-throw shooting in the final minute. Parks connected on four-of-four free throws in the final minute, and forward Mike Daum came off the bench to score 17 points for the Jackrabbits.
In the programs' first ever meeting, the two teams combined for 41 turnovers.
The loss snaps TCU's 20-game non-conference winning streak.
South Dakota State coach Scott Nagy needs only 12 more wins to reach 400 for his career.
