Kenny Kadji scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Miami survived a huge effort from Trevis Simpson and pulled away late for a 99-89 victory over visiting UNC Greensboro on Monday.
Freshman Shane Larkin keyed a second-half run with three consecutive 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 18 points for Miami (9-4), which won its fourth straight game.
Simpson, a sophomore, made seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 36 points, but none in the final 11:37 for Greensboro (2-13). The Spartans, who led by as many as seven in the second half, have lost 10 straight.
Durand Scott added 17 points for Miami to become the 33rd player in the program’s history to reach 1,000 career points.
Both teams shot more than 50 percent and scored 49 points in a wild first half. UNC Greensboro, which trailed by as many as 10 in the opening 20 minutes, was 8-of-12 from behind the 3-point arc and Miami made only 1-of-7.
Simpson was 5-of-7 from 3-point range and scored 24 points while Kadji dominated on the inside with 23 points before halftime.
Greensboro dropped to 1-46 against ACC schools.
