Mike Scott had 17 points and 13 rebounds and visiting Virginia continued its strong defensive play in a 67-54 win over Oregon.

Joe Harris added 15 points for the Cavaliers (9-1), who won their seventh straight.

Devoe Joseph tallied 16 points for the Ducks (6-3), who lost at home for the first time in six games this season.

Virginia hasn’t allowed more than 58 points in any game. The Cavs clamped down in the second half, holding the Ducks to 11 points over the final 10-plus minutes.

The Cavaliers outrebounded the Ducks 38-25 rebounding edge and shot 84.6 percent from the free-throw line. Oregon hit just 5 of 14 free throws for a paltry 35.7 percent.

Virginia used a 13-4 run early in the second half to take the lead for good. Harris capped the spurt with a rare four-point play to give Virginia a 41-36 advantage with 13:13 left.

Oregon pulled within 45-43 on Garrett Sim’s 3-pointer with 10:57 remaining, but Virginia outscored the Ducks 18-5 over the next seven minutes to take an insurmountable 15-point lead.

Joseph had 10 first-half points to help Oregon to a 30-28 halftime lead.
