Demontez Stitt scored 17 points and Jerai Grant added 14 and 11 rebounds as Clemson recorded the biggest home comeback in school history, taking down North Carolina State, 60-50, on Tuesday.
Bryan Narcisse and Milton Jennings added nine points apiece for the Tigers (14-6, 3-3 ACC), who erased a 19-point deficit and snapped a two-game slide.
The Wolfpack were hot early, jumping out to a 12-2 lead in the first six minutes and pushing it to as much as 31-12 after Ryan Harrow converted a layup with 6:10 left in the first half. But Clemson called a timeout and regrouped, ripping off a 17-3 burst through the end of the period to close to 34-29 at the break.
Scott Wood made a pair of 3-pointers at the beginning of the second half to keep NC State clear, but the Tigers kept chipping away. Grant’s three-point play with 5:41 left in the game gave Clemson the lead, 50-48, and came in the middle of a 16-0 run that pushed the lead to as many as 11 points.
Tracy Smith scored 13 points for the Wolfpack (12-8, 2-4), who made only one field goal over the final 8:45 in absorbing their fourth loss in their last five games.
