Brad Wanamaker had 16 points and 11 rebounds, leading No. 3 Pittsburgh to an 87-68 rout of visiting Rider on Saturday.
Ashton Gibbs added 16 points and four 3-pointers for Pittsburgh (9-0), which recorded its 53rd straight non-conference win at the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers are 138-11 at the venue since it opened in 2002.
Pittsburgh’s lone non-conference loss in that span came to Duke in 2003. Its 52-game winning streak was never in danger against Rider (5-4), which was uncharacteristically bad from 3-point range.
The Broncs entered as the sixth-best 3-point shooting team in the nation (44.6 percent), but connected on just 7-of-21 attempts.
The Panthers ended any suspense early thanks to a 16-6 run that made it 31-17 with 4:30 left in the first half. Pittsburgh led 42-29 at the half and the 13-point margin was the closest the Broncs would get the rest of the game.
The Panthers led by as many as 22 points late in the second half.
Mike Ringgold had 24 points for the Broncs, who have lost three of their last four games.
