Calvin Haynes joined Oregon State's 1,000-point club in grand fashion with a game-high 27 points in Wednesday's 83-70 victory over Charlotte at the Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore.

Needing eight points to become the 35th player in Oregon State history to reach the milestone, Haynes, a senior guard, scoring eight of the Beavers' first 10 points.

Senior forward Omari Johnson added 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Jared Cunningham had 13 points, seven steals and five assists for the Beavers (2-2).

Haynes' 3-pointer with 6:48 left in the first half keyed an 11-1 Oregon State run en route to a 44-35 halftime lead. Charlotte (2-4) got no closer than 46-40 after Derrio Green's 3-pointer in the opening minutes of the second half. Oregon State led by as many as 20.

Jamar Briscoe led the 49ers with 20 points, including 5 for 10 from 3-point range.

The Beavers forced 19 turnovers, and held the 49ers to 38.5 percent shooting.

Oregon State next plays Howard in Washington on Saturday.
