Goran Dragic scored 28 points and Hassan Whiteside provided 16 rebounds and six blocks as the host Miami Heat defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 120-111 on Saturday night.
Damian Lillard, Portland's first-team All-NBA guard, posted a season-high 42 points and added seven rebounds and six assists. He had 41 points in his previous game Thursday night at Orlando.
Miami, which blew a 19-point second-quarter lead, put together a 10-0 run late. Portland had a late lead at 106-103 with 3:07 left in the game. But a layup by Kelly Olynyk and a Dragic three-pointer put Miami up for good.
Dwyane Wade, Miami's 36-year-old 12-time All-Star who is a reserve in his final NBA season, scored 18 of his 19 points in the first half.
Portland, which entered the game ranked third in the NBA in scoring (125.3), was held to 42-percent shooting from the floor.
Justise Winslow, Miami's first-round pick in 2015, made his season debut, scoring 10 points in 19 minutes off the bench. He had missed Miami's first four games because of a hamstring injury.
Miami led 33-22 after a first quarter in which it shot 56 percent, compared to 38.1 percent for Portland. The Heat bench scored 16 points in the period, including a 3-pointer just before the buzzer by Tyler Johnson.
The Heat kept it going, starting the second quarter on an 8-0 roll before settling for a 57-42 halftime lead.
Lillard led Portland with 17 first-half points, but the Blazers shot just 37.8 percent, including 2-of-13 on 3-pointers.
Portland scored 37 points in the third quarter, cutting its deficit to 89-79. Lillard had 15 points in the period.
The Blazers finally caught Miami with 6:19 left in the fourth quarter, tying the score 96-96 on Zach Collins' 3-pointer. Lillard followed with a trey to give Portland its first lead since the first quarter, and that set up the drama in the final minutes.
