Cavaliers 99, Trail Blazers 94: Kyrie Irving made a franchise-record 11 3-pointers en route to a career-high 55 points - the highest total in the NBA this season - to lead host Cleveland to its eighth straight victory.
Irving finished 17-of-36 from the field and 11-of-19 from 3-point range, including a go-ahead triple with 6.4 seconds left, for the Cavaliers, who were without star LeBron James (sore wrists). Timofey Mozgov tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kevin Love finished with 10 points and 12 boards despite going 3-for-15 from the field.
LaMarcus Aldridge collected 38 points and 11 rebounds to lead Portland, which has dropped five of its last seven. Damian Lillard struggled to 14 points on 4-of-19 shooting and Chris Kaman grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds for the Trail Blazers.
Aldridge and Wesley Matthews hit triples on consecutive trips to cap Portland's rally from a 14-point deficit and give the Trail Blazers a 90-87 lead with 3:51 to play. Irving drained a 3-pointer to tie it with 1:15 to play and Mozgov and Aldridge each hit a pair of free throws before Irving again connected from long range, rebounded a Lillard miss and made two foul shots to seal it.
Irving scored 11 straight points for Cleveland as the Cavaliers opened up a 12-point lead late in the first quarter, and the lead was as large as 14 before Aldridge hit four free throws in the final minute of the half to cut it to 54-44 at the break. Aldridge scored 15 points in the third quarter, including a put-back of a Lillard miss in the closing seconds to pull Portland within 79-74 entering the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Irving, who had 38 points Tuesday at Detroit, joined James as the only players in the league this season with back-to-back games with 35 or more points. … Lillard became the fourth player in the NBA to reach 1,000 points this season, joining James Harden, Blake Griffin and Anthony Davis. … Aldridge has 50 games with at least 25 points and 10 rebounds since the start of the 2012-13 season, most in the NBA.
