Clippers 120, Pelicans 100: Blake Griffin scored 30 points as host Los Angeles pulled away in the second half to win its seventh game in a row.
J.J. Redick shot 5-for-9 from 3-point range and scored 21 points while Chris Paul shot 4-for-6 from long distance and finished with 18 points and 16 assists as the Clippers shot 17-for-32 overall from beyond the 3-point arc. Jamal Crawford contributed 20 points off the bench, Matt Barnes scored 14 and DeAndre Jordan finished with eight points, 18 rebounds and five blocks for Los Angeles.
Anthony Davis scored 26 points but was held to a season-low three rebounds for New Orleans. Ryan Anderson registered 16 points off the bench, Tyreke Evans contributed 13 and Luke Babbitt scored 12 on 4-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc for the Pelicans.
The Clippers fell behind by two on the opening possession of the second half but came back with 39 points to surge ahead 93-78 heading to the fourth. Griffin scored 13 points in the quarter and Paul had eight, the last two coming on a jumper with four seconds on the clock.
Redick sank a deep 3-pointer at the end of first quarter for a 34-18 lead, but Babbitt’s fourth 3-pointer of the opening half without a miss tied the score at 54 with 28 seconds left and that score held up until the half. The Pelicans briefly took the lead when Omer Asik scored on the opening possession of the second half, though that advantage held up for 18 seconds before Jordan scored on the other end.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Clippers played without backup PG Jordan Farmar (back spasms) and reserve SG Reggie Bullock (ankle). … Babbitt improved to 14-for-23 from long distance while Anderson fell to 10-for-50 in his last eight games. … Redick has scored at least 20 points in three straight games for the first time in his career and the Clippers improved to 9-1 this season when he scores 14 or more.
