Bobcats 107, Raptors 103: D.J. Augustin scored 12 of his 23 points in the decisive third quarter and added 11 assists as Charlotte snapped its latest losing streak at two games.
Gerald Henderson scored 24 points and Corey Maggette added 21 for the Bobcats, whose three wins in the last eight games are the closest the team has come to any sort of surge.
The Raptors were coming off an overtime win at Memphis on Friday and seemed to run out of gas in the third quarter.
They found a second wind too late, cutting a 16-point deficit with under four minutes left to 105-103 when Jerryd Bayless drained a 3-pointer in the final minute. Toronto could not close the gap completely and Augustin sealed it at the free-throw line.
The Bobcats took advantage in the third, outscoring Toronto 38-14 in the frame. Trailing 53-43 at the half, Charlotte used an 18-4 run to gain control. Augustin’s 3-pointer with 6:15 left in the period gave the Bobcats their first lead of the game.
Charlotte scored on 13 of its final 14 possessions of the third quarter to take a 14-point lead into the final frame.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Bayless finished with 29 points to lead the Raptors. … Charlotte shot 31 for 34 at the free throw line and 51 percent from the floor. … The Raptors committed 24 turnovers and 36 personal fouls.
