WIZARDS 106, LAKERS 101: Kevin Seraphin scored 10 of his career-high 14 points in the final quarter to help host Washington stun Los Angeles.
Nick Young scored 19 points and Trevor Booker had 18 points and a career-best 17 rebounds as the Wizards rallied from a 21-point, third-quarter deficit to snap a nine-game losing streak against the Lakers.
Kobe Bryant scored 30 points but hit just 9 of 31 shots for the Lakers. Pau Gasol had 19 points and 15 rebounds and Andrew Bynum also scored 19 points for Los Angeles, which dropped to 6-14 on the road.
The score was tied 89-89 before Seraphin scored on a dunk with 8:03 to play to start a 9-3 spurt that put the Wizards ahead by six. Seraphin scored six points during the run.
Los Angeles responded with seven consecutive points to take a 99-98 lead on Bynum’s basket with 2:51 remaining before Seraphin scored back-to-back baskets to start a game-ending 8-2 run.
Roger Mason and Jordan Crawford added 14 points apiece and JaVale McGee had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Wizards.
Los Angeles led 76-55 with 7:22 to go in the third quarter and still led by 20 midway through the period before the Wizards began a frenzied rally.
Washington finished the quarter on a 22-4 run to pull within 83-81 heading into the final stanza. Mason hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start the fourth quarter to give the Wizards a four-point lead.
Bryant had 20 first-half points to help the Lakers to a 64-49 halftime lead. Los Angeles hit just 4 of 17 shots in the third quarter.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Bryant has 30 or more points in four of the past five games. … Wizards forward Rashard Lewis (knee) missed his fifth straight game. … Bynum had just six rebounds to end a streak of 10 consecutive double-doubles. … McGee has 12 double-doubles.
