Jason Terry scored 21 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 14 as the Dallas Mavericks embarrassed the visiting Sacramento Kings, 99-60, on Saturday.
The Mavericks rode a suffocating defense to a 52-23 lead at the half and used the final 24 minutes to get some rest and experiment with new lineups as they cruised to their fifth straight win.
Dallas has gotten over its slow start by focusing on the defensive end. It worked that system to perfection in the first half, holding the Kings to 17.4 percent shooting before the break. The 23 points allowed marked the lowest of any first half in franchise history.
Jason Kidd, who had missed the previous four games with a back injury, was the only starter on the Mavericks to log more than 22 minutes as he worked his way back into game shape.
Sacramento was playing its fourth road game in the last five days and just did not have the legs to compete. The Kings have dropped six of their last eight games and have to travel to Minnesota to complete the five-game trip on Monday.
They get one at home Wednesday before another stretch of three straight on the road.
