Kevin Love had 28 points and 19 rebounds and the host Minnesota Timberwolves set a franchise record with 18 3-pointers in their 129-95 win over the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday.
The Timberwolves were playing without leading scorer Michael Beasley, who was out with a sprained ankle he suffered Friday at San Antonio. It hardly slowed them down.
They entered 29th in the league shooting just 42 percent, but shot 60 percent of the game and 70 percent on 3-pointers (18 of 26). The Timberwolves scored 73 points in the first half, when they were 11 of 14 on 3-pointers and two of the three misses were half-court heaves at both quarter buzzers.
Wesley Johnson had 20 points and Darko Milicic added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Timberwolves, who ended a six-game losing streak.
Ramon Sessions, who played in Minnesota last season, led the Cavaliers with 18 points off the bench.
Cleveland was without a pair of starters in J.J. Hickson and Joey Graham, both of whom stayed at the team hotel with a stomach virus. The Cavaliers have lost their last three games by an average of 27 points.
