Andrea Bargnani snapped out of a shooting slump with 30 points and Jose Calderon recorded a season-high 19 assists as the host Toronto Raptors snapped a 13-game losing streak with a 111-100 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
DeMar DeRozan scored 20 points and Amir Johnson added 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for the Raptors, whose slide was the second longest in franchise history, tying streaks in 1998 and 2002. Toronto’s last win was Jan. 9 against Sacramento.
Bargnani, who entered the game making just 8-of-51 shots over his past three games (15.7 percent), shot 10 of 26 from the floor and added six rebounds.
Kevin Love had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who fell to 2-23 on the road after losing Michael Beasley in the first half with an ankle injury.
Love extended his streak of double-doubles to 35 games - the longest such streak in the NBA since Kevin Garnett recorded 37 straight in 2006 for Minnesota. Love was just added to the West All-Star squad Friday as an injury replacement for Houston’s Yao Ming.
Bargnani drained a straight-away 3-pointer with 5:25 left after Minnesota got within three. A few minutes later, DeRozan drained a right-corner 3-pointer and Calderon found Johnson running the floor for a layup to restore an eight-point bulge with 2:18 left.
