Adolis Garcia went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and scored the game-winning run as the Texas Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins 6-5 in 10 innings on Sunday in Arlington, Texas.
Garcia, who began the bottom of the 10th on second, came around to score on Josh Jung's one-out infield single and third baseman Jose Miranda's throwing error.
Marcus Semien went 3-for-5 with an RBI for Texas, which snapped a three-game losing streak. The Rangers' bullpen threw seven innings of one-run ball, as Andrew Chafin (4-2) picked up the win with a scoreless 10th.
Minnesota closer Jhoan Duran (6-6) recorded the loss, despite not allowing an earned run. Starter Pablo Lopez threw six scoreless innings for the Twins, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out three. Ryan Jeffers finished 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs as Minnesota had its three-game winning streak snapped.
Minnesota opened the scoring in the top of the first, as Miranda laced a one-out triple off Texas starter Tyler Mahle. Trevor Larnach then doubled, giving the Twins a 1-0 lead.
Jeffers followed with his 19th homer of the season, a 401-foot shot that put Minnesota up 3-0.
The Twins added to their lead in the top of the third. Willi Castro led off with a single, followed by Larnach's one-out single. After Mahle's wild pitch advanced both runners, Jeffers singled to left, scoring Castro.
Mahle was replaced by Gerson Garabito after three innings of four-run, six-hit ball. In his third start of the season, Mahle struck out one and walked none.
Texas threatened in the bottom of the sixth. Lopez allowed a leadoff double to Garcia before hitting Nathaniel Lowe with a pitch. After Jung grounded into a forceout, Lopez retired Wyatt Langford and Carson Kelly to end the inning. After 107 pitches, Lopez was replaced by Jorge Alcala.
Leody Taveras slashed a single off Alcala to begin the bottom of the seventh, before Semien drove in the Rangers' first run on a double to right-center. Corey Seager then doubled, cutting Texas' deficit to 4-2. After Josh Smith flew out, Garcia tied the game with a two-run homer, his 21st of the year.
Lowe struck out before Jung's fourth home run of the season gave Texas a 5-4 advantage. Alcala was replaced by Trevor Richards after five runs and five hits in just two-thirds of an inning.
Carlos Santana led off the ninth with his 18th homer of the season, tying the game against Texas' Kirby Yates. Minnesota's Griffin Jax worked a perfect bottom of the ninth, sending the game to extras.
From there, Chafin retired Castro on a flyout, which sent Edouard Julien to third. Miranda hit a grounder, but shortstop Seager threw Julien out at home. Chafin then struck out Christian Vazquez to end the inning.
