Albert Pujols had an early three-run double and Julio Urias pitched five scoreless innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated Mookie Betts' return from the injured list with an easy 13-0 victory Sunday over the host Arizona Diamondbacks.
Betts had a home run among his two hits, Justin Turner had a three-run home run and AJ Pollock had four hits to extend his on-base streak to 20 games as the Dodgers won a series immediately following a series loss to the National League West-leading San Francisco Giants.
Diamondbacks starter Caleb Smith (3-8) was roughed up for five runs on three hits and five walks in just 1 2/3 innings of work.
Arizona won the series opener in 10 innings on Friday and was tied through six innings Saturday before the Dodgers outscored the Diamondbacks 18-0 over the final 12 innings of the weekend matchup. Arizona fell to an MLB-worst 40 games under .500 at 33-73.
Betts, who has been out since July 19 with right hip inflammation, received a rare start at second base as manager Dave Roberts elected to keep his All-Star off the outfield's artificial surface. It was his 18th career game at second and 16th start.
The Dodgers took command early with a five-run second inning. Chris Taylor had a bases-loaded walk, Turner brought home a run with an infield single and Pujols doubled into the left-field corner to clear the bases.
Diamondbacks pitchers gave up five walks and three hits in the first two innings, as well as the five runs.
The Dodgers added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Billy McKinney, while Austin Barnes scored on a wild pitch. They made it 8-0 in the sixth on the first of two RBI doubles from Pollock. Turner hit his three-run home run in the seventh, his 20th of the season.
Pollock extended his hitting streak to 11 games and delivered his second four-hit game of the season, with both coming against Arizona in games started by Smith. Urias (13-3) gave up four hits and had seven strikeouts to earn the win.
Betts led off the ninth with his 15th home run, a shot off the left-field foul pole against catcher Bryan Holaday, who pitched the final inning.
