Luis Castillo allowed one run in seven innings and the Cincinnati Reds won the rubber game of the three-game series against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
Castillo (10-4), who made his first All-Star team this summer, was coming off his worst outing of the season, allowing six earned runs and eight hits in five innings of a 12-2 loss to the visiting Colorado Rockies on Friday. He gave up six hits on Wednesday, struck out seven and didn't walk a batter.
Jesse Winker went 3-for-3 with a solo homer for the Reds, who have won four of five. Nick Senzel also had three hits and drove in a run, and Eduardo Suarez blasted a two-run homer for Cincinnati.
Pirates rookie Dario Agrazal (2-2) allowed three runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out five, didn't walk a batter, but hit two.
On Tuesday night, the teams were involved in a bases-clearing brawl for the second time this season, resulting in six ejections.
Winker hit an opposite-field homer to left on the first pitch from Agrazal for a 1-0 lead.
Winker led off the third with a single to center and came home on the two-run shot by Suarez to make it 3-0.
Agrazal was removed after hitting two batters in the fourth inning. Michael Feliz entered with the bases loaded and two outs and got Joey Votto to fly out to right.
The Reds tacked on another run in the seventh on an RBI single by Senzel.
The Pirates scored their run in the eighth on a ground out by Bryan Reynolds.
Raisel Iglesias pitched the ninth for his 20th save.
The Pirates have lost 10 of 11.
For the second straight game, the Reds traded a key player during the game.
Right-handed pitcher Tanner Roark was sent to the Oakland A's for minor league outfielder Jameson Hannah. On Tuesday night, right fielder Yasiel Puig was traded to the Cleveland Indians as part of a three-team trade that brought right-hander Trevor Bauer to Cincinnati.
Pirates outfielder Corey Dickerson, who had two home runs and a career-high five RBIs in the 11-4 win on Tuesday, was also traded to the Philadelphia Phillies during the game.
