Rookie Bryan Reynolds hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the sixth inning Wednesday as the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied from a six-run deficit to top the visiting Detroit Tigers 8-7.
It was the first time in 11 years the Pirates came back from six runs to win.
Starling Marte also homered, and Corey Dickerson added a two-run double for Pittsburgh, which has won three of five following a seven-game losing streak.
Brandon Dixon hit a two-run homer, and Harold Castro smashed a solo shot for Detroit, which has lost five of six.
Both starters came off the injured list to play.
Pittsburgh's Trevor Williams, who hadn't pitched since May 16, allowed seven runs and nine hits in five innings, with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Richard Rodriguez (2-3) pitched a scoreless sixth for the win, and Felipe Vazquez pitched a perfect ninth for his 17th save.
Detroit's Jordan Zimmermann, who hadn't pitched since April 25, gave up three runs and five hits in four innings, with four strikeouts and one walk.
Nick Ramirez (3-2) gave up five runs in 1 1/3 innings to take the loss.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead on the first three pitches of the game. JaCoby Jones doubled and scored on Christin Stewart's single. Stewart later scored on Castro's single.
Pittsburgh cut it to 2-1 in the second on Williams' two-out RBI single with the bases loaded.
The third was Detroit's big inning. Niko Goodrum's two-run double boosted the lead to 4-1. Dixon's eighth homer, a 454-foot two-run shot to left, made it 6-1, and Castro followed with his first major league homer for a six-run cushion. All the runs scored with no outs.
Williams struck out the next three batters and retired the final nine batters he faced.
Dickerson's two-run double in the bottom of the third cut it to 7-3.
Against Ramirez in the fifth, Pittsburgh got within 7-5 on Marte's 11th homer, down the line in left.
In the sixth, Adam Frazier led off with a single. An out later, Kevin Newman doubled to right-center, Frazier moving to third. Reynolds' sixth homer, to left, gave the Pirates an 8-7 lead.
