Jose Abreu went 2-for-3 with a triple and matched a season high with three RBIs, and the visiting Chicago White Sox earned a 10-5 win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.
Avisail Garcia had four hits and three runs, and Matt Davidson added three hits and three RBIs as the White Sox avoided a three-game sweep. Chicago won for only the 13th time in 40 road games this season.
Rougned Odor went 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs and an RBI to lead the Rangers at the plate. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Texas, which has won 11 of 14.
White Sox starter Reynaldo Lopez (4-5) earned his second straight victory by limiting Rangers hitters to two runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out six before leaving at 114 pitches (76 strikes).
Rangers starter Cole Hamels (4-7) allowed a season-high seven runs on nine hits in five innings. The 34-year-old southpaw struck out seven without allowing a walk, but his ERA increased from 3.61 to 4.05.
Chicago opened the scoring in the first. Tim Anderson hit a leadoff single to left field, advanced to third base on a double by Garcia and scored on a groundout by Abreu.
Abreu notched another RBI in the third when he tripled to right-center field to drive in Adam Engel. Abreu's hit skipped past Rangers center fielder Delino DeShields, who tried to make a sliding catch.
Texas evened the score at 2 in the fourth. Odor singled to right field to drive in Jurickson Profar, and DeShields drew a bases-loaded walk four batters later.
A five-run fifth broke the game open for Chicago. Anderson and Garcia each drove in a run with back-to-back hits, and Davidson followed with a two-run double. Kevan Smith capped the big inning with a single to drive in Davidson.
A sacrifice fly by Abreu made it 8-2 in the seventh. The 31-year-old has 50 RBIs in 81 games as he aims for his fifth straight season with 100-plus RBIs.
Texas rallied with three runs in the eighth to trim the deficit to 8-5. Joey Gallo hit a two-run triple and scored on a groundout by Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
Chicago added two runs in the ninth with RBIs from Davidson and Charlie Tilson.
