Padres 9, Diamondbacks 5: Chase Headley highlighted a five-run fourth inning with a three-run double as San Diego improved to 6-3 on its 10-game road trip.
Yonder Alonso belted a two-run homer and pinch hitter Jesus Guzman added a solo shot for the Padres, who have won a season-high four straight contests and handed Arizona its fourth consecutive defeat.
San Diego starter Andrew Cashner allowed one hit and struck out two in two innings before leaving with a strained right lat. The converted reliever, who was making his third start of the season, injured himself while warming up to start the third frame.
Alonso gave the Padres a 2-0 lead in the second inning with his third blast of the year. Two frames later, one run scored on an error and another on Alexi Amarista's single before Headley hit a bases-loaded double to increase the advantage to 7-0.
Another error by Arizona in the fifth allowed a run to score, and Guzman hit his third career homer as a pinch hitter in the eighth to cap San Diego's scoring. Two of Guzman's pinch blasts have come this season and both are against the Diamondbacks.
Ross Ohlendorf (2-0) notched the win despite allowing three runs and four hits in 2 1/3 innings.
Rookie Trevor Bauer (0-1) lasted just 3 1/3 innings in his home debut for Arizona, surrendering seven runs - six earned - and six hits.
Jason Kubel hit his eighth career grand slam and Paul Goldschmidt collected four hits and an RBI for Arizona.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kubel's grand slam gave the Diamondbacks at least one home run in a franchise-record 14 consecutive games. ... Amarista recorded his fourth consecutive multi-hit performance, going 2-for-5 with an RBI. He is 11-for-21 (.524) with four home runs and 12 RBIs over his last six games. ... Arizona 3B Geoff Blum went 1-for-4 in his first appearance since April 16. Blum was activated from the 60-day disabled list on Monday after missing over 2 1/2 months with a strained left oblique.
