Royals 7, Indians 6 (14): Tony Abreu dropped a bloop single into shallow center to score the go-ahead run in the top of the 14th and Cleveland left the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning as Kansas City held on to snap its six-game losing streak.
The Indians loaded the bases with no outs in the 14th against Kelvin Herrera, but Carlos Santana flew out to left, Lonnie Chisenhall lined out to right and Casey Kotchman grounded out to first to snap Cleveland's three-game winning streak. The Indians left 20 runners on base.
Jeff Francoeur's three-run homer capped a six-run, two-out rally in the third inning and Mike Moustakas had a two-run double in the big frame, which matched Kansas City's biggest inning of the season. But the Royals didn't score again until the 14th, when Moustakas drew a leadoff walk, took second on a wild pitch from Scott Maine (2-3) and scored on Abreu's soft single with two outs.
Asdrubal Cabrera blooped a two-run double off closer Greg Holland to tie it in the ninth, but the Indians wasted a golden opportunity to win it by leaving the bases loaded.
Each team used nine pitchers. Vin Mazzaro (4-3) pitched two scoreless innings for the win.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cleveland's Shin-Soo Choo reached 20 stolen bases for the third time in his career. … Royals LHP Francisley Bueno stranded two inherited runners in the sixth and is 14-for-14 in leaving inherited runners on base this season. … Kansas City's Billy Butler extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
