Adam LaRoche went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Ryan Zimmerman collected three hits for the Nationals, who have won six of nine.

Bernadina gave Washington a quick lead, following Ian Desmond's game-opening single with his second home run of the season. Two batters later, LaRoche plated Zimmerman with a double for a 3-0 advantage.

Bernadina hit an RBI single in the second and Espinosa belted a two-run shot off Reds starter Mike Leake in the third. LaRoche added a run-scoring single in the fourth to make it 7-0.

Gio Gonzalez (4-1) allowed two runs and five hits over five innings in his shortest outing since a 3 2/3-inning performance at Chicago in his season debut on April 7. The left-hander, who struck out a season-high nine, has yielded two runs or less in each of his last six outings.

Leake (0-5) lasted just three frames, surrendering six runs and seven hits.

Jay Bruce had two hits and an RBI for Cincinnati, which returned home from a 4-2 road trip.
