Brewers 7, Phillies 4: Corey Hart belted an eighth-inning grand slam and Ryan Braun broke out of a major slump with his 17th career multi-homer game as host Milwaukee gained a measure of revenge against Philadelphia.
After Cliff Lee exited the contest nursing a one-run lead following a brilliant 12-strikeout performance, Josh Lindblom (2-3) promptly issued two walks - one intentional - to load the bases. Hart then drilled a 2-2 fastball from Lindblom which barely cleared the wall in right-center for his 23rd homer.
Livan Hernandez (4-1) struck out two in the eighth inning before Jim Henderson nailed down his third save for the Brewers' beleaguered bullpen. Milwaukee saw its bullpen squander all three games in its previous series versus Philadelphia.
Entering in a 6-for-42 slump, Braun belted his 30th homer to deep right center in the first inning. The reigning National League MVP added another solo shot in the fourth inning, this one a mammoth blast over the center-field wall.
Aramis Ramirez followed Braun's initial blast in the first with one of his own for the Brewers, who won for just the second time in seven outings.
Kevin Frandsen ripped a three-run double in the fifth inning for the Phillies, who have dropped two in a row following a three-game win streak.
Trailing 3-1 in the fifth, the Phillies loaded the bases after sandwiching a pair of two-out singles around a walk. Frandsen then ripped a 3-2 fastball into the gap in left-center to plate Ryan Howard, Domonic Brown and Laynce Nix.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lee has yielded 22 homers already this season, as opposed to 18 in 2011. He matched a career high by yielding four against Milwaukee on July 24. ... Frandsen improved to 5-for-14 with the bases loaded in his career. ... Philadelphia 2B Freddy Galvis was reinstated following his 50-game suspension and placed on the 15-day disabled list.
