Marlins 13, Mets 0: Giancarlo Stanton belted a pair of two-run homers among his four hits and Jose Reyes extended his career-best hitting streak to 26 games with a solo blast as visiting Miami mauled New York.
Carlos Lee blooped a two-run single in the fifth inning to increase his hitting streak to 13 games. Bryan Petersen had a bases-clearing triple in the eighth inning and Greg Dobbs added a two-run shot in the ninth for the Marlins, who handed the Mets their ninth consecutive home loss.
Nathan Eovaldi (3-7) picked up the win despite issuing six walks. The elevated pitch count brought about Eovaldi's early exit after he scattered four hits over five scoreless innings.
Reyes ended any suspense about his hitting streak in the first inning, ripping a two-out homer into the upper deck in right field. By hitting safely in 26 straight games, Reyes pulled into a tie with Emilio Bonifacio (2011) for second place in franchise history. Luis Castillo holds the club mark with 35, set in 2002.
After Lee worked a walk, Stanton deposited a fastball from Chris Young (3-6) just over the wall in left field. The 22-year-old would later end Young's evening in the fifth inning, rocketing a slider into the seats in left for his 21st homer.
New York's Ruben Tejada led off the third inning with a single to extend his career-high hitting streak to 13 games.
