Marlins 4, Braves 3 (10): Jose Reyes singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th, as Miami blew a 3-0 ninth-inning lead but rallied to end Atlanta’s four-game winning streak.
With one out in the 10th, Atlanta reliever Cory Gearrin (0-1) walked pinch-hitter Rob Brantly and Gorkys Hernandez was hit by a pitch. Reyes blooped a 3-2 pitch just in front of a diving Jason Heyward in short right field to score Brantly.
The Braves fell 5 1/2 games behind National League East leader Washington, which was rained out Tuesday. Atlanta’s lead over St. Louis for the top NL wild card spot dropped to 6 1/2 games.
Trailing 3-0, Atlanta rallied in the ninth. Heyward doubled and Chipper Jones walked against Steve Cishek. After a strikeout, Dan Uggla singled home a run. Brian McCann then stroked a two-run double off Mike Dunn to tie the game at 3-3.
Miami starter Nate Eovaldi dominated, holding the Braves to just four hits in eight innings. John Buck tripled and scored in the third and hit his 11th homer in the seventh to give Miami a 3-0 advantage. Heath Bell (3-5) pitched a scoreless 10th for the victory.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Atlanta starter Paul Maholm pitched well, allowing just two runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts. … The Braves lost SS Paul Janish to a dislocated shoulder on Carlos Lee’s grounder in the ninth. ... Miami OF Giancarlo Stanton missed his second consecutive game with a sore left side muscle. Stanton is not expected to play in Wednesday’s series finale.
