Diamondbacks 6, Braves 4: Gerardo Parra belted a grand slam during a five-run second inning as host Arizona ended its five-game skid by salvaging the finale its series with Atlanta.
Ian Kennedy worked seven solid innings and added an RBI while Aaron Hill delivered a run-scoring double for the Diamondbacks, who are 2-5 on their 10-game homestand.
Jason Kubel ignited the second-inning outburst with a two-out single and scored when Kennedy drew a bases-loaded walk from Randall Delgado (2-1). Parra then deposited a 1-0 offering into the pool area in right-center field for his first career grand slam and a 5-1 lead.
Kennedy (3-0) allowed three runs and nine hits en route to his first win in three career starts against Atlanta. The right-hander improved to 10-0 in his last 11 starts at Chase Field.
J.J. Putz worked around a solo homer by Juan Francisco in the ninth for his fifth save in six opportunities.
Delgado lasted 5 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on just three hits but walking four.
Michael Bourn went 3-for-3 with two runs and Freddie Freeman had two RBIs for the Braves, who had their five-game winning streak snapped.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Atlanta's Chipper Jones received a standing ovation when he came to the plate as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning, as it was the final regular-season appearance at Chase Field of his career. Jones, who grounded into a double play, will be retiring at the end of the campaign. ... Atlanta had won 10 of 11 after beginning the season with four straight losses. ... Parra had only two RBIs over his first 15 games.
