Mets 6, Braves 1: Ike Davis belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning and Dillon Gee tossed seven solid frames as visiting New York snapped Atlanta's five-game winning streak.
With the score tied at 1-1, Davis jumped on the fifth straight curveball he saw from Tommy Hanson (1-2) and ripped it into the seats in right field. The blast was Davis' second of the season.
Jason Bay homered and made a sensational leaping grab to deny Jack Wilson in a bid for one of his own as the Mets defeated the Braves for the fourth time this season.
Gee (1-1) bounced back from a rough season debut by allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five.
Jon Rauch worked a scoreless eighth inning and Tim Byrdak struck out a pair in the ninth to preserve the victory.
Hanson yielded five runs on as many hits in seven innings to suffer his second loss to the Mets this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Braves announced that they will retire John Smoltz's No. 29 on June 8 and induct the veteran right-hander into the team's Hall of Fame at Turner Field ... New York's David Wright singled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to seven games ... Jason Heyward had a pair of hits and Wilson had an RBI groundout in the second inning for the Braves ... The Mets failed to hit a home run in the first inning for the first time in four games.
