Brett Pill's second triple of the game snapped an eighth-inning tie and the San Francisco Giants survived a rally in the ninth to post their seventh straight win, a 6-5 triumph over the host Colorado Rockies on Saturday.
Carlos Beltran had three hits and an RBI for San Francisco, which climbed within five games of Arizona in the National League West with 10 remaining. The Giants also trail Atlanta by five in the NL wild-card standings.
Pill gave San Francisco a 2-1 lead in the sixth with an RBI triple, but Dexter Fowler put Colorado ahead in the bottom half with a two-run single.
Beltran knotted the game in the eighth with a double and Pill delivered a two-run triple against Huston Street (1-4) two batters later for a 5-3 advantage.
Waldis Joaquin (1-0) retired both batters he faced for his first career victory. Santiago Casilla allowed two runs in the ninth before striking out rookie Hector Gomez with two outs and the tying run on second to collect his fifth save in six chances.
San Francisco took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by rookie starter Eric Surkamp, who yielded a run and three hits but walked six in 4 2/3 innings.
