Yorvit Torrealba drove in three runs and Wade LeBlanc tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings for the surging San Diego Padres in Thursday’s 9-0 shutout of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jerry Hairston Jr. had a pair of hits and drove in two runs as the Padres won for the 11th time in 13 tries. San Diego tallied 13 hits, all of which were singles.
LeBlanc (2-0) scattered eight hits while striking out six over 6 1/3 innings for the win. Reliever Tim Stauffer followed with 2 2/3 scoreless frames, surrendering just one hit.
San Diego scored all of its run in a two-inning span, bringing home four in the fourth and five more in the fifth on seven consecutive singles. Torrealba brought in a run to make it 2-0 and followed up an inning later with a two-run single for the 7-0 advantage.
Milwaukee starter Doug Davis (0-3) was roughed up for six runs -- five earned -- on eight hits over four innings. Reliever Jeff Suppan served up three more runs over the ensuing four frames.
Ryan Braun and George Kottaras each had two hits for the Brewers.
