Tejada belted a two-run homer to left field to cap San Diego’s three-run third inning. The Padres tallied a run earlier in the inning on a play in which David Eckstein singled and Rafael Furcal’s error allowed Chase Headley to score.

Stauffer (5-4) gave up just one run and three hits to pick up the win. He struck out five and walked two as San Diego moved back into first place in the NL West.

Luke Gregerson pitched a perfect seventh, Mike Adams worked the eighth and Heath Bell struck out two in the ninth for his 43rd save.

Los Angeles scored its run in the second inning when Matt Kemp, who doubled to start the inning, scored on a fielder’s choice by A.J. Ellis.

Dodgers starter Ted Lilly (8-12) allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings. Lilly struck out eight and walked one.
