Vicente Padilla allowed just two hits in eight innings and James Loney had four RBIs as the Los Angeles Dodgers routed the visiting Chicago Cubs 7-0 on Sunday night.
Loney had a three-homer in the first inning and a run-scoring single in a three-run second as the Dodgers built an early 6-0 lead to support the pitching of Padilla.
Padilla (4-2) didn’t allow a hit until Starlin Castro’s leadoff double in the sixth inning. Padilla struck out six and walked one while winning his third straight start.
Chicago starter Carlos Silva (9-3) was ejected for arguing a call at first base in the second inning.
The right-hander has been bothered with a calf injury and was largely ineffective before he was tossed. Silva gave up six runs and six hits in 1 1/3 innings.
Los Angeles’ other two second-inning runs came across on Matt Kemp’s sacrifice fly and a bases-loaded walk to Xavier Paul.
The Dodgers recorded a fourth-inning run when Paul grounded into a double play.
