Sean Rodriguez's bases-clearing double highlighted a four-run ninth inning as the Tampa Bay Rays rallied to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-6 Tuesday.
Rodriguez hit a two-run double off Toronto closer Kevin Gregg with the bases loaded. A third run came in to score when Jays' center fielder Vernon Wells bobbled the ball.
Gregg surrendered five walks in the inning including a bases-loaded free pass to Ben Zobrist.
Grant Balfour (1-1) earned the victory with 1 1/3 shutout innings of relief.
Gregg (0-2) absorbed the loss and had words with home plate umpire Angel Hernandez after he was pulled from the game. Hernandez ejected him and Gregg had to be restrained by a teammate after charging toward the umpire.
John Buck and Fred Lewis homered for the Jays, who saw their five-game winning streak come to an end. Lewis scored three times and finished a triple short of the cycle.
