DeWayne Wise's three-run triple capped a five-run 11th inning for the Toronto Blue Jays, who ended a five-game losing streak Friday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over the New York Yankees.
After scuffling through the first 10 innings, the Toronto offense jumped on a pair of Yankees relievers in the 10th frame. Alex Gonzalez gave the Jays the lead with a one-out RBI single and Vernon Wells extended the advantage to 3-1 with a two-out bases-loaded walk.
Wise followed with a triple to the center-field gap, bringing home Gonzalez, Wells and Fred Lewis to put the game away. Toronto's five-run outburst equaled their offense over the previous 31 innings combined.
Jason Frasor (3-1) earned the win with a scoreless 10th inning while Kevin Gregg finished things off in the 11th. Toronto starter Brett Cecil allowed a run on six hits over six innings, walking six and striking out five.
David Robertson (0-3) absorbed the loss and was charged with all five 11th-inning runs. The loss spoiled a strong outing from New York starter A.J. Burnett, who threw six scoreless frames while walking three and striking out six.
Alex Rodriguez drove in the Yankees' lone run with a 1st-inning sacrifice fly, while Aaron Hill had a run-scoring single in the eighth to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
